Shame on me

Hi all, I've been a bad blogger. Not only do I not post but I don't even comment. I promise I do read though!

I've had a tough time with work but should get some relief this Spring.

All of the furries here are doing good. I haven't taken any new pictures in I don't know how long.

I just wanted to say Hi. I don't expect anyone to comment. I just wanted to check in and say Hi. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.

Big Pug Meet-up

Hi everyone! I haven't blogged in a while as I've been bogged down with work but I wanted to post about a huge pug meetup in Indy.

There were many of the usual "Indy Bloggers" there such as Sailinger, Apollo, Hank and Molly, Sophie, Dixie and Harley, Maggie, Lilo, The Pug Posse, and Yoda and Brutus

I took Brutus and Miley with me and it was great to see and meet everyone. I got to see Stubby in person who has to be one of the most photogenic pugs I've ever seen.

We also had some out town guests. It was wonderful to meet them all!

Foo, Stubby, Punchy, Clover and Chewy, Pearl, Those Elgin Pugs,

I think I've included everyone that was there. Please forgive me and let me know if I missed anyone!

There are tons of photos on facebook but I wanted to share 3. The last one is of me getting ready to cut the cake that Laura made. I've got both fists read to cut.

Don't I look enthused in both? I take the worst pictures.

Fred

About a year ago not only did Sammy (Scrappy) start showing up but this other tabby colored kitty stated coming around. He would come around at times and then disappear aper so I figured that he belonged to someone in the neighborhood. Over the winter I let him stay in the garage at times but I don't need another cat!

About 3 months ago he showed up with ear mites and looked terrible so I finally took him to the vet. It was clear no one was taking care of him. He looked terrible. Luckily he didn't have any diseases. I got him fixed or took away his manhood. Since then he hasn't been in any neighborhood fights and seems much happier. I decided to name him Fred.

For the record Lilly hated him :)

Cody and Miley

A couple of friends stopped by to help me with a leaning mailbox and they brought their son Cody. Needless to say Miley really enjoyed him. Miley loves to lick people so Cody kept calling her "Lickey."

Although Miley was surrendered because she would "bite" or nip children she didn't bite Cody at all and hasn't in over a year. It was wonderful to see her playing and running with Cody.

Happy (Belated) Birthday to Miley and George Henry

Miley and George Henry both turned 3 on July 20th. I was so busy with work and etc. I didn't post about it.

As some of you may know Miley is a "foster failure." George Henry was a stray. They are about the same age so I just gave George Henry, Mileys birthday according to her papers. George Henry doesn't photograph well. He always looks sad. I assure you contrary to his pictures he's a very happy kitty cat.

Mileys cat Scratch

Poor Miley got her eye scratched (corneal abrasion) by one of the cats on Friday (Aug 13th). She stepped on Fred (I have yet to post about him) and he retaliated. I felt so bad for her because she was squinting and was a little traumatized after it happened at first but then she bounced right back.

I couldn't see anything when I looked at it but took her to the vet anyway because she was squinting some and I also noticed her pupil on her left side didn't dilate. Also, it's just common sense because of those crazy pug bulging eyes.

I took her to our vet and she has a very very tiny lesion. She's on antibiotic drops 3x a day for 5 days. We are on day 3 now. So far so good and it should heal on it's own. Anyone else had this happen?

Lilly RIP Favorite girl in the world

My pretty Lilly passed away today. Last week I noticed she had lost some muscle mass and was not quite as active. For some reason even then I knew she was dying. I can't explain it but I just knew. She went to the vet on Monday. Bloodwork revealed liver failure. She went into the vets for two days for fluids and antibiotics but it was too late. I was able to bring her home for a day but this morning when I got up and looked at her, I knew. I took her in this afternoon to help her cross over. I miss her already. I had never had to put a pet to sleep until today. I was glad to be there with her in the end but this really hurts. I brought her body home and put her in a grave I had dug. She's buried in the yard out by the lilly flowers I have.

I've only had Lilly for 4 years. I had adopted her from a lady in town who was moving. Lilly had a princess complex and was very moody and had an attitude much of the time. I still loved her though and sometimes loved her because of her snarky meows and hisses. She had a pretty pink nose, I loved the way she would rub her face on things, and I thought her meow was the most beautiful I had ever heard. I sometimes got the feeling that whatever her kittenhood was like, it wasn't as wonderful as it should have been. I remember when I went to pick her up when I adopted her I had asked what kind of toys she liked. The lady said she never played. Turns out Lilly did play. She would roll a purple ball around the house and at times pick it up with her mouth.

I've done a lot of crying the past week. The whole concept of death is very messy and sad. I cry because I will miss her. I cry because I wonder if she knew how much I loved her. I cry because I hope she had a good life with us. I'd like to think she enjoyed her life here. The house has been mighty quite without her around. She was very vocal and often chatted with me. I hope to bring out that quality in a couple of the other cats around here.

I hope she is up there rolling on the concrete and basking in the sun. I will miss you my favorite girl in the world.

The basics

We've been asked by Miss Pearl to do a survey.....

THE BASICS

1.) Name and Age:
Brutus, 9 years old
Miley 2 years old

2.) Breed: Pug

3.) Nickname(s):
Brutus- old man, bruty, brudabaker, punkin bread, big boy, franks and beans
Miley – little sister, baby girl, red beans a rice, little monster,

4.) Where'd ya come from?
Brutus- KPR, he was adopted by a couple who had him for 3 years, then the husband developed allergies, so they gave him to the in laws who put him outside in KY. After 3 years he was surrendered.

Miley – KPR a foster “failure” as I was her foster mom. She had been in two homes prior to coming to me. The lady that surrendered her did so because she was too energetic and “bit” children. I had her for 8 months and had seen so much progress with her and decided I wanted to keep her. She fit right in with the family.

FAVORITES

1.) Toy:
Brutus- stuffies particulary his brown and blue bear
Miley – stuffies particulary anything that squeaks

2.) Snack:
Brutus- everything! But also digo raw hides and anything chewy
Miley – anything her big brother is eating, digo raw hides, peanut butter!

3.) Human person: Me.

FUNNY STUFF

1.) Worst habit:
Brutus – not wanting to go for a walk and laying down for a belly rub when I am trying to harness him.
Miley – licking Brutus butt! When we come in from a walk she will lick his butt. Gross!

2.) Most embarrassing moment:
Brutus – taking a #2 right in the middle of the Rural King store
Miley – when she runs away because she’s afraid from people who just want to pet her

3.) Family dynamic (this is a question for those of you with more than one animal in the house. i.e. who is alpha? who is the cuddler? who is the naughty one? etc. I just want to know how you fit into the family!)

Brutus is definitely the alpha. He’s also my constant companion inside the house. He has to be with me in any room. Outside he’s a loner and will wander off. Brutus also will eat all of the kibble food off the floor before he starts to eat out of the food bowl. He’s very tidy that way.
Miley is the follower. She’s very needy when it comes to me. She has to be right beside me when inside unless she’s tired. If she is tired she will go into my bedroom and go to sleep on my bed. Miley is always happy and always glad to see other dogs, cats, animals in general. She’s shy with people until she knows them better. She loves the other cats in the house and will lick their heads when they go to head butt her. She is particularly close with George Henry and Sammy.

4.) Your humans' FAVORITE thing about you!:
Brutus – I love that he is so loyal to me and has to be with me all the time. At first I was very irritated by it because I didn’t know what he wanted. Now I realize he just wants to be with me. I love how excited he gets about a car ride. I also love the looks on his face.

Miley – I love her energy. She’s always happy. I can be in the worst mood and she makes me smile. I love it when she sticks her tongue out which is about 90% of the time. I love when she goes up to Brutus or the cats and smells them and gets all excited just because they are there.
