Chasing Oscar

Brutus got groomed today so he smells better. Later in the day when it was cooler we started to go for a walk when Oscar showed up. Brutus loves chasing him so no walk was needed. I finally got a couple of snapshots.

Also Brutus got a new harness! Didn't get much wear out if today but it will be there in the future.

Solids Finally........and Lilly

While Louise isn't feeling well Brutus has finally gotten over his squirts. A week it took! We are thinking of Louise and hope she gets better soon.

Bruts been going to work with me a lot lately and I need to take some pics. Everyone asks about him when I don't have him. Some are upset that I don't bring him every day.

No pics of the Bru man today instead I wanted to talk about my kitteh Lilly. I got her 2 years ago in March from a lady who was moving. She is 12 years old now, declawed (by her previous owners), and a princess. She's also a big girl weighing in at 13 lbs. She doesn't eat all that much. She loves the sun and loves to lay out on the concrete. My bed is actually her bed. She is very chatty and loves to lay on my chest when I am watching TV. The pic above is a classic move where she will lay in the sun on her back and clean her face. Now that we finally have warmer weather she lays in the morning sun in the great room. When I get home she is greeting me at the door from the garage into the house. She darts outside not happy to see me per se but happy I am home to let her out. Not many folks (Mark, my mom) like her but I love her. She is so pretty and sweet but at the same time very princess like in that it's all about her.

Oh boy did Brutus have a big day yesterday. We went over to a friends house for a bbq. Brut got to play with 5 other dogs and roam around a fenced in yard. He did so great as did all of the other dogs. He particularly enjoyed chasing this little toy poodle. He was also around a boxer, 2 labs and a golden retriever. He spent about the first hour or so walking around the yard and playing with the other dogs at times. He was definitely not a velcro dog until later in the night when he got tired. Then he would come around me some but for the most part was very independent. We stayed for a while so he was very tired when we got home.

6am wake up call

Brutus is having gastrointestinal issues and woke me this Saturday morning at 6am. No picture of course. I got him antibiotics on Wed afternoon as this has actually been going on since last Sunday or so. He is still a little soft but doing better. Very odd because he's doing great otherwise. Doesn't act sick and wants to eat. I am hoping some rest and boredom over the holiday weekend will help him.

I wish I had my camera with me on Friday. He went into work with me again and Kirk went with us for our walk. Kirk had little Brutus running down the hall. I was also able to show Kirk Brutus' fascination with stairs.

I'm a Star

Well not really. Brutus made the stuff on my Mutt website.

It's been busy. Summer school will take it out of you. One thing about the weather being nice is that Brutus really enjoys going outside and eating his treats. He went out yesterday and at half of a chewy treat after his bath. No pics of that but here is a link to the website he's on.

Specks Rally to Rescue

Today we went to the Specks Rally to Rescue in Anderson IN. We had a great time and Brutus go to see many other breeds. The greyhounds were there. They are so calm and beautiful. Also there is picture of the Dachshunds that were very lively and right next to our table.

Brutus was pretty social especially when larger dogs came by. He was not afraid to green rottweilers or any other larger dogs. I took him over to meet this Greyhound and he is so small in comparison.

Walks with IJ, Rural King

I have been so busy that I haven't even thought about what I was going to write about. I took the Bru man with me to run some errands yesterday when I got home from work. The big excitement was going into Rural King. He walks around so proud. We were outside and a gentleman walked up and asked "does he bite?" I said no and Brutus did his signature move when someone pets him. He immediately sits at their side an enjoys the attention.

The outdoor Kitty IJ (picture above) took a walk with us outside. The most recent I believe was Monday night. We went out and I felt like something or someone was out in the street with us and I looked down and it was IJ. He followed us on our walk and came into the house. He's such a neat kitty.

Kitchen supervision

Every time I go into the Kitchen lately I have supervision. Brutus is feeling much better and is now really following me around and very interested in the goings on in the Kitchen in the hopes he gets treats. Bones is also very concerned too about the kitchen.

The Bru man and I took at walk last night and IJ (outdoor kitteh) met up with us. He walked almost for all of our walk and then came into the house and went to bed.

Brutus and his allergies are still a team. I talked to his Vet yesterday and the Bru man is now on Prednisone. We started it yesterday.

Good news is that he can have regular food so he's been getting a few treats and is very excited about that. We are sticking with his z/d Science Diet dried food until it runs out, which will be a while. Like most pugs he does enjoy his food. Hopefully the new meds work. A couple days ago he had bad itchys on his tail and tore up a thumb size piece of skin!

Visit to College

Today I needed to go into work so I took the Bru man with me. He loves visiting campus. He also has a fascination with stairs. When he climbs them he always looks down. He got lots of huggs and belly rubs. He seems to be getting use to the visits as this time he really hammed it up and always laid down so Kelly, Amy, Don, etc could rub his belly.

I felt so bad for him (allergies and itchys) that I put him in bed with me last night. Both of the cats stood at the doorway in confusion. Bones was first to come onto the bed and lay down. I am so proud of him as he is a very nervous cat. Lilly, who isn't the brightest bulb, tried to jump up between bones and I. Bones wasn't digging that so she got swiped and jumped off. Don't worry though, I went and got her and put her up on the bed.

Cinco De Mayo

I worked at home today so it was pretty boring but I did take him with me to get my oil changed. We walked around the dealership and he inspected every light post. We did see some people but I didn't let him walk up to them. He really loves people and thinks everyone should pet him. I've been places with him before where he would whine because the people around weren't paying attention to him. I never know if I should let him just walk up and smell people or not. I let others decide usually by how they interact with him.

In observance of cinco de mayo I took this picture. As you can tell he is thrilled.

Today has been pretty laid back as I've cleaned the house and car. Brutus isn't sure what he's suppose to do during this so he lays down in an area of the house I am hanging out in and looks confused.

His allergies seem to still be bothering him. I'm not sure if I should call the doc or let some more time go by. I think it's been 4 weeks since we started the hypo-allergenic diet. He has a spot on his right front elbow that I'm going to have to clean for him. He has scratched it until it's bled.

On a happy note above is a picture I took a few days ago before we went out into the car.

Rides in the car

Today Brutus got to go for a ride in the car while I ran errands. He loves the car. I believe I could wake him up out of a deep sleep for a ride in the car and we would be thrilled.

He also got to run around with Oscar the little bichon freese from accross the street. Brutus likes him because he runs around a lot and is about his same size.

No pictures of either for today but I do have a picture of Brutus with the flowering almonds.
